EMAC/EBAC Speciality Copolymers


Voridian has added two exciting polyolefin-based product families to its broad line of polymers and copolymers:

• EMAC (ethylene methyl acrylate)
• EBAC (ethylene Butyl acrylate)

The EMAC and EBAC copolymer families include EMAC+ and EBAC+. If you have a specific or specialised need, Voridian has the capability to customise an EMAC/EBAC product to meet a wide range of customer needs and end-use applications.

Versatility

The inherent properties of EMAC and EBAC copolymers make them very attractive products, some of these unique properties include:

• Low Heat seal initiation, softening, and melting temperature
• Low modulus for great flexibility and softness
• Easily accepts high loadings of fillers without the loss of other properties
• Adheres to or compatible with paper, polyolefins, OPP, PET, OPET, Ionomers, PVDC, rigid PVC and other polar polymers
• Non-corrosive, easy to process, thermally stable
• EMAC meets the regulating agency requirements of: FDA for direct food contact, USDS for packed meat/poultry and for aseptic packaging using hydrogen peroxide sterilisation, USP XXII Class VI for medical applications

These properties make EMAC and EBAC copolymers very versatile for use in a diverse number of demanding applications including:

• Heat seal, adhesive, or modification layer in films, sheeting, laminations, coatings
• Blend component to increase the softness and flexibility of various polymers
• Ultra soft and quiet films with excellent toughness
• An impact modifier or compatibility aid
• Highly filled colour, additive or concentrate carrier
• A shrink force enhancer in speciliaty films
• Soft, pliable, tough injection molded, blow molded, extrusion profile articles even at temperatures with excellent ESCR
• Food or medical packaging and medical devices

These Voridian copolymers can also be found as components of fibres. The potential applications are endless!
