Styrene Maleic Anhydride Copolymers

Copolymerization of styrene with maleic anhydride and its derivatives produces polymers with anhydride or carboxylic acid functionality. A family of such resins trademarked Scripset®, is manufactured by Hercules Incorporated.

Scripset® resins are soluble in alkaline aqueous systems and selected organic solvents. These products may be used alone or formulated with other materials.

Scripset® resins are available both as solid powders or aqueous solutions. They are excellent film formers, and provide a high degree of water resistance in aqueous formulations.

Typical applications are as a surface size treatment for paper, adhesive modifier, emulsifier, binder, pigment dispersant, viscosity modifier, and as an ingredient in coatings for printed circuit board manufacture.
